Mr. Gaither, 

Good afternoon.  I would like to ask for your permission to accept mud here at the Buncombe County landfill.  Duke 
Energy is doing a directional drill 40’‐80’ under Lake Julian here in Buncombe County.  In the past they have simply put 
this mud into the soil onsite.  This project is on a larger scale and they need to haul it away.  We would like to accept this 
material here at our landfill. The details of this project are outlined below: 
 Duke Energy expects to generate approximately 450 tons of this material. 
 Duke Energy plans to haul approximately 7.5 tons per day over the course of 60 days. 
 We plan to clear a section on the top working face of Cell 6 away from the public and the slopes to place this 
material. 

Please let me know if this is acceptable and if the there are any specific measures we need to take.
