Subject:gas line project summary
Mr. Gaither,
The Iredell landfill would like to install a 12” pvc gas collection line around the existing Phase 5 area of the landfill. The
gas system would tie into the existing 16” gas line as shown on the plans and be sent to the generator already on
site. This is in an effort to provide more methane to the generator on site.
Well heads and sumps would be installed at the terminal end of the cleanouts where gas is currently being
generated. Condensate from these sumps would be pumped pneumatically to the existing sumps for the leachate
system as shown, which in turn is pumped to the leachate lagoon. The project is to be bid as a base project and three
alternates, as the scope of the installation will depend on the amount that can be funded with the project’s budget. The
base bid will be paired with one or more of the alternate routes to allow for connection to the existing gas system. In
the trench, shown as a detain on Sheet D1, a 12” PVC vacuum line, a 2” pvc condensate line and a 1” air line (to power
the pneumatic pumps) are to be installed.
Please let me know if there are any questions or concerns.
Sincerely,
Steve Gandy
