OBSERVED VIOLATIONS:
1. 15A NCAC 13B .0844 (b) states:
All permitted septage management firms shall display decals or lettering on each side of every pumper vehicle
operated by the firm. The decals or lettering shall include the name, address (town name), phone number, and
septage management firm permit number. All decals or lettering on the pumper vehicle shall be no less than three
inches in height and plainly visible. Identification shall be permanently attached (i.e., no removable signs).
Tidy Coast Event Services was in violation of 15A NCAC 13B .0844 (b) because: The pumper trucks with
vehicle identifying numbers (VIN) 5PVNEBJV8B4552073 and 1GDJ7C1C55F900922 did not have all
required lettering of 3” or greater in height.
On August 14, 2017, the Solid Waste Section received verification via e-mail that the letter on both vehicles had
been corrected to at least 3” in height. No further action is necessary.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
1. The inspection was conducted at the west bound I-40 DOT rest area in Davie County.
2. The following firm trucks were inspected:

3. The tanks appeared to be structurally sound and bolted to the frame.
4. Valves and access ports appeared to be secure. Caps were present on the access ports.
5. The trucks were not properly marked in accordance with the lettering requirements except for the phone
number. Other required lettering measured 2”.
6. No leaks were observed.

administrative penalty of up to $15,000 per day may be assessed for each violation of the Solid Waste Laws, Regulations, Conditions of a Permit,
or Order under Article 9 of Chapter 130A of the N.C. General Statutes. Further, the facility and/or all responsible parties may also be subject to
enforcement actions including penalties, injunction from operation of a solid waste management facility or a solid waste collection service and any
such further relief as may be necessary to achieve compliance with the North Carolina Solid Waste Management Act and Rules.
