Signficant septage spills on the ground at the truck unloading/grease box area, at tanks #2 & #3 and also at tank #6. Completely clean up all septage from the ground surface in these three areas and dispose of waste properly. Review procedures to prevent septage spills from occurring. Since the last visit catch basins have been installed between the six horizontal tanks and the runoff is piped to a dug pond (approx. 20’x25’) at the back of the site. No approval was granted by the Division for these changes. This pond has no outlet, however the water currently in the pond is significantly contaminated (scum layer/gas bubbles) from ground surface runoff from the tank area due to past spills. Due to vector & odor concerns this contaminated liquid shall be removed from the pond at this time. A decision will be needed from the Section in regards to the future of this runoff pond. The No Trespassing sign has fallen, - repost the required sign. 2. Reviewed the renewal submittal. Septage & yellow grease is kept separate at this facility. Noted missing information for treatment logs, need to get additional information & adequate treatment log format set up. 3. Walked thru process on site for accuracy of drawings. The Septage tanks are now #10,#8,#2,#3, & #6, not #5 any more. Flow meter & grease trap that were located in front of horizontal tanks has been moved behind the tanks. Dewatering box now drains to the relocated grease trap. Concrete trough has been installed behind the tanks to contain any outlet drips – trough does not run anywhere/has to be pumped out as needed. Additional concrete work has been done at truck unloading area. New site drawings will be needed for these changes on site. 4. Revised operation manual needed to reflect changes on site and also include a section that was missing from submitted copy in renewal submittal. 5. Discussed how yard truck is used which is for cleanup of concrete trough & rolloff area. 6. The approved setbacks are being met. 7. The above ground tanks appear structurally sound. 8. The required 5’ cleared radius is present around the tanks and the access road is adequate. Please contact me if you have any questions or concerns regarding this inspection report.
