On June 29, 2017, the Division of Waste Management, Solid Waste Section (Section) received
Duke Energy’s request entitled;
Dan River Landfill Cell 1 Supplemental Chimney Drains, Permit No.: 7906-INDUS, Dan River
Steam Station, Rockingham County, Eden, North Carolina 27288. Prepared by Duke Energy.
June 2017. DIN 28076.
The request concerns the immediate addition of 2 chimney drains within Cell 1 of the landfill,
Permit No. 7906-INDUS-2016. The Section met with Duke Energy staff on Tuesday June 27,
2017 and concurs with the need for the 2 drains. The Section has reviewed the request presented
in the letter above (DIN 28076) and approves the installation of the 2 supplemental chimney
drains as presented.
