Facility Charlotte, North Carolina 4.0 ANALYTICAL METHODS AND RESULTS 4.1 Methods ---·-···-··~ June 24, 1998 Page 3 Sample TB-1 was analyzed for volatile organics (SW-846 Method 8260) only. Samples collected from monitoring wells were analyzed for volatiles (SW-846 Method 8260), semi-volatiles (SW-846 Method 8270), cyanide (SW-846 Method 9010). and Target Analytical List (TAL) metals (EPA 200 series Methods). 4.2 Results Laboratory data sheets are presented in Appendix B. A summary of selected contaminants is provided in Table 4.1. Historical groundwater analytical data is provided in Table 4.2. A groundwater contaminant plume map, showing total detectable volatile organic compounds, is provided as Drawing 4.1 . The laboratory reported the following Quality Assurance\Quality Control (QA/QC) procedures were out of compliance during analysis of samples: • Recovery of surrogate toluene exceeded quality control limits during analysis of the MW-10 sample. Toluene was reported at Below Detection Limit (BOU for this sample. • Residual chlorine was reported in the sample from MW-1 3 submitted for cyanide analysis . • The volatile analysis for the MW-13 sample was reported as "out of tune time." It appears the time between laboratory standards analyses and MW-13 analysis was outside the time window allowed under SW-846 Method 8260 protocol. When this was discovered, a second analysis performed on the sample from this well. However, this analysis was performed outside of hold time. Analytical results from the out of tune run and the out of hold time run were comparable. Analytical results for this event are similar to analytical results from previous sampling events at MW-13.
