Permit No. 7906-INDUS-2016, Duke Energy Dan River Steam Station

Dear Mrs. Martin:
On May 30, 2017, the Division of Waste Management, Solid Waste Section (Section) performed
the permit required pre-operations meeting for Cell 1 of Duke Energy’s Dan River Steam Station
industrial landfill Permit No. 7906-INDUS-2016 (Facility).
The Section has reviewed all documentation submitted on behalf of Duke Energy and hereby
issues Duke Energy a permit approval to operate for Cell 1 at the Facility, therefore the Facility
may commence landfill operations in the approved Cell1.

Please note, Duke Energy must submit construction quality assurance documentation for all
future construction and receive approval from the Section prior to placing future landfill cells
into operation.
