STATUS OF PERMIT:
A Land Clearing and Inert Debris Notification was received by the Solid Waste Section on August 22, 2016. The
Notification was filed for recordation with the Wilkes County Register of Deeds on August 16, 2016.

None
The item(s) listed above were observed by Section staff and require action on behalf of the facility in order to come into or maintain compliance
with the Statutes, Rules, and/or other regulatory requirements applicable to this facility. Be advised that pursuant to N.C.G.S. 130A-22, an
administrative penalty of up to $15,000 per day may be assessed for each violation of the Solid Waste Laws, Regulations, Conditions of a Permit,
or Order under Article 9 of Chapter 130A of the N.C. General Statutes. Further, the facility and/or all responsible parties may also be subject to
enforcement actions including penalties, injunction from operation of a solid waste management facility or a solid waste collection service and any
such further relief as may be necessary to achieve compliance with the North Carolina Solid Waste Management Act and Rules.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
1. The facility is located on a 405.2-acre parcel of land located on ABTCO Road and is owned by Louisiana Pacific
Corporation.
2. Access to the site is secured by a gate and access must be granted via scale house personnel. A secondary gate
consisting of electrified wire is located at the direct entrance to the landfill area.
3. The waste area appeared to be less than two acres in size.
4. Waste in the landfill consisted primarily of soil and a small amount of wood waste that is generated from periodic
cleaning of the receiving area for raw wood at the mill site.
5. No off-site sedimentation was observed. However, no erosion and sedimentation control measures were observed
during the inspection. Measures should be provided along the perimeter of the disposal area to prevent off-site
sedimentation. Installation of measures was discussed with Ms. Wetzel.
6. No unacceptable waste streams were observed.
7. It appeared that all required setbacks were being maintained.
8. During the inspection, multiple steel stakes were observed on site. However, it was difficult to determine if these
were marking the disposal limits of the landfill as they were spaced quite far apart and did not appear to be
installed around the entire perimeter of the landfill area. Ms. Wetzel stated that she would determine the purpose
of the steel stakes and ensure that the disposal limits were properly designated.
9. No surface water ponding was observed.
10. All access roads leading to the site were of all-weather construction and well maintained.
