Inc. at the Town of Kernersville Closed Landfill (Landfill), Permit 34-04. This event was conducted on behalf of the Town of Kernersville (Town) in accordance with the approved Landfill Gas Monitoring Plan, dated July 17, 2012. As in past monitoring events, methane monitoring was planned to be conducted in the eight landfill gas (LFG) probes located on the Town’s property (designated GW-1 through GW-8) and three LFG probes shared with the Waste Management Piedmont Landfill (designated GP-9 through GP-11). Unfortunately, access to the locked security fences and the LFG probes located inside (GW-8, GP-9, GP-10 and GP-11) was not gained in time to be included with this sampling event. The Town is currently negotiating with Waste Management to obtain access to the shared wells for future monitoring events. As shown on the attached Monthly Landfill Gas Monitoring Report, methane gas was not detected in four of the seven LFG probes monitored on August 5th, 2016. Elevated levels of methane gas, detected in concentrations above the Lower Explosive Limit (LEL), were detected in GW-1 and GPW-2R. WithersRavenel, on behalf of the Town of Kernersville, appreciates the opportunity to submit this report to the Solid Waste Section. Please contact me with comments, questions, or requests.
