Dear Ms Werner,
On November 15, 2013 Duke Energy (Duke) requested approval to install monitoring wells for water level only at various locations in the potential expansion area of the Roxboro Steam Electric Plant
landfill. Approval from your office was received on November 26, 2013.
Installation of the wells began in December of 2013 and commenced June 2014. There were breaks in
installation activities due to unforeseen access issues and weather. Duke is submitting the attached GW-1 installation forms and survey as record of installation. Duke is periodically obtaining water level
measurements from these wells, however the intended hydrogeological study associated with these
instruments is currently on hold.
