Elizabeth –
On November 21, 2016, the Solid Waste Section approved the recommendations stated in the Groundwater
Monitoring Well Evaluation submittal for the Belews Creek Craig Road Ash Landfill (Permit No. 8504). The
evaluation stated five wells were recommended for replacement and six wells were recommended for
redevelopment. If the redevelopment was not successful in reducing the turbidity, those wells should be
considered for replacement.
On March 29‐31, 2017, Synterra Corporation conducted redevelopment of the identified wells and determined
that replacement of the wells is warranted. This email serves as notification from Duke Energy that the
company plans to proceed with the replacement of all eleven wells at the Craig Road Ash Landfill.
If you have any questions, please let me know.
Very respectfully –
Melonie
