The current permit covers two buried storage tanks at the locations noted on the enclosed site map. During this visit it was observed that possibly another buried tank located in the north west area of the lot is also being used for septage detention – the lid was open and liquid was observed. This buried tank was covered under a past permit, but is no longer permitted at this time due to the lack of traffic barriers or documentation that it is a traffic rated tank. This tank shall not be used for the storage of camper waste (septage) per Permit Condition 7. Ensure that employees are instructed to only utilize the two buried tanks currently permitted. SEE BACK The item(s) listed above were observed by Section staff and require action on behalf of the facility in order to come into or maintain compliance with the Statutes, Rules, and/or other regulatory requirements applicable to this facility. Be advised that pursuant to N.C.G.S. 130A-22, an administrative penalty of up to $15,000 per day may be assessed for each violation of the Solid Waste Laws, Regulations, Conditions of a Permit, or Order under Article 9 of Chapter 130A of the N.C. General Statutes. Further, the facility and/or all responsible parties may also be subject to enforcement actions including penalties, injunction from operation of a solid waste management facility or a solid waste collection service and any such further relief as may be necessary to achieve compliance with the North Carolina Solid Waste Management Act and Rules. It appears that septage is being transferred to/from the two tanks in a safe and sanitary manner. No spills or leaks were noted. No apparent vectors or odors. 2. The approved setbacks are being met. 3. It appears that some repaving has been done in the tank #2 location since the last visit. The required 5’ cleared radius is present around the tanks. 4. The access road is adequate. Please ensure that the required “No Trespassing” sign is posted at the site entrance.
