ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
1. On March 30, 2017 a complaint was received to the Division of Environmental Assistance and
Customer Service on the DEQ toll-free line from an anonymous caller in Watauga County. The caller
reported that Triple T Pumping dumped septage into a drain at the 2nd bay of the car wash in Vilas, NC, around lunchtime on 3/29/2017.
2. On March 30, 2017, Troy Harrison (the writer) received the complaint from Tony Gallagher, Composting & land Application Branch Head. Mr. Harrison arrived on site at 1:05 PM to conduct an
investigation. The carwash is located at 4856 US Highway 421, Vilas, NC and called: “Wash Me! Car
Wash” with a phone number: 828-773-1776. No septage odors were observed in any of the carwash stalls. No evidence of septage being deposited was observed. Mr. Harrison called the number and
spoke with Jeff Harper, owner of the car wash. He stated that Triple T was pumping the grit trap.
Based on the conservation with the carwash owner, it appears that no illegal dumping has occurred at this location.
3. No further action is necessary.
