Hi Kelly - Pleases find attached the revised EMP incorporating the information you requested in your
email dated 3/13/2017. I have also attached a file noting the pages where I made changes to
facilitate your review. If a change was made to the EMP form, they are highlighted in yellow. For
changes made in Appendices C and D, which were in Word, I compared the 2-22 and 3-15-17
versions with track changes.
There were also a couple of questions you had that I am answering below, because you stated in our
phone call on 3/14/2017 that you didn’t need this information incorporated into the EMP itself:
1. Will the first floor have post-tension cables? The answer is no, all concrete on the first floor
will be slab on grade cast in place. Only the elevated second floor deck will be post tension –
requiring cables.
2. Will the residential floors exchange air with the ground floor? The answer, no, not through
the HVAC systems. There is no connection between the ground floor HVAC system and the
residential hallway HVAC system or the individual residential HVAC systems. Elevators and
stairwells, originating on the first floor within enclosed space, open onto corridors on the
upper residential levels. These residential corridors are enclosed, climate controlled spaces
with their own separate (not connected to any dwelling) HVAC unit. That being said, as we
discussed, there will be some de minimus air exchange between the commercial ground floor
and residential hallways from residents using the stairwells or elevators. A sentence has been
added on page 10 of the revised EMP to this effect.
I have made a few changes elsewhere in the documented as noted, either as minor
corrections/edits, or to provide further clarification for the general contractor (Continental Building
Company) and environmental consultant (Terracon) when using the EMP during the physical
redevelopment of the property. Gus Cook said it will be a good idea for all of us to have a meeting in
Greenville to discuss the EMP once it is approved, before the site prep activities begin on April 3rd.
Thanks,
