RE: Relocation and Abandonment of MMW and GWM Wells

Dear Elizabeth:

In preparation for the upcoming expansion of the C&D landfill at the Robeson County Solid Waste
facility, we would like to request authorization to make the following changes to our methane and
ground water monitoring programs.
Abandon existing methane monitoring wells 1, 2, 3 & 6. These will be replaced with monitoring wells 19,
20, & 21. Monitoring well 6 which is currently located within the foot print of the C&D over MSW landfill
(Phase 1) would not be replaced as MMW 4, MMW4A, and MMW 7 are located within the same general
area.
Additionally, ground water monitoring wells 19 & 20 would need to be moved from their current
locations as they will be in close proximity to the C&D expansion.
A site plan showing the location of the existing wells and the proposed location for the replacement
monitoring wells has been included with this letter for your review.
