Dear Mr. DeNeale:
The Solid Waste Section (Section) has reviewed the request to install groundwater monitoring wells in
accordance with the USEPA CCR Rule 40 CFR Part 257.91 at the Duke Energy Carolinas Allen Retired Ash
Basin Ash Landfill submitted on March 28, 2016 (DIN 25837). The Section concurs with the request to
install fourteen (14) monitoring wells. In addition, six (6) existing groundwater monitoring wells will be
incorporated into the CCR monitoring network. The Section requests all analytical data collected from
these wells to be submitted.
