1. All photographs were taken by Troy Harrison on March 22, 2016.
The item(s) listed above were observed by Section staff and require action on behalf of the facility in order to come into or maintain compliance
with the Statutes, Rules, and/or other regulatory requirements applicable to this facility. Be advised that pursuant to N.C.G.S. 130A-22, an
administrative penalty of up to $15,000 per day may be assessed for each violation of the Solid Waste Laws, Regulations, Conditions of a Permit,
or Order under Article 9 of Chapter 130A of the N.C. General Statutes. Further, the facility and/or all responsible parties may also be subject to
enforcement actions including penalties, injunction from operation of a solid waste management facility or a solid waste collection service and any
such further relief as may be necessary to achieve compliance with the North Carolina Solid Waste Management Act and Rules.

2. The Septage Land Application Site consists of Field 1 (2.5 acres), Field 2 (13.0 acres), Field 3 (7.0 acres) and
Field 4 (8.0 acre3s) for a total of 30.5 acres. Field 4 is inactive at this time until trees are removed and
approval by the Solid Waste section is given for use. Total usable acreage is 22.5 acres.

3. The site is permitted for land application of domestic septage (including portable toilet waste) and grease
septage.
4. The site is located on at the intersection of Highway 18 and Glade Valley Road and has accessible all-weather
roads to the septage land application fields covered under the permit.
5. Appropriate signage was displayed at the site.
6. Disposal area boundaries were delineated with permanent markers, however, some of the markers were
knocked down or missing. These will need to be replaced.
7. All septage discharges appear to have been made within the disposal area boundary.
8. No evidence of standing liquid or pooled waste was observed. The waste appeared to be evenly distributed
throughout the field with the exception of a recent heavy application on field 2. Heavy application can inhibit
fescue growth.

9. No objectionable odors were observed.

10. A residence was observed being constructed by the property owner in Field 2. It was observed in the
previous and current inspections that land applications are no longer being made within 500 feet of the
construction site. A 500 foot setback must be maintained as soon as a well is drilled or the house
occupied.
