ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
1. This facility is permitted to operate a Small Type III composting facility.
2. The only materials included in the compost pile were wood chips, brush from a grinding operation and grease
from restaurants. The normal composition is 20 yards of grease and 40 yards of chips/brush.
3. Little odor was observed at the pile. No flies or other vectors were observed.
4. The compost is located on top of a 40’ X 40’ concrete pad and leachate normally drains to one side into a drain
which empties into a septic tank. The drain appeared to be clear of debris and kept open to allow leachate to
drain into the septic tank.
5. The site is not open to the public. Access is by a single private road that is staffed during working hours.
6. Temperature and other records were kept in the main office and reviewed. Temperatures and turning frequency
were observed being recorded. Required temperatures were being achieved.
