Dear Ellen:

The Johnston County Landfill received two letters from you dated August 8, 2016 regarding
Appendix I inorganic exceedances at the above reference facility. Your letters state that an
alternate source demonstration for Appendix I inorganic exceedances should be submitted
within 90 days. Smith Gardner, Inc. (S+G), on behalf of Johnston County, requests an
extension of this deadline to allow our firm to perform additional work as part of the fall
water quality monitoring event, scheduled for early November. We request an additional 90
days to further evaluate the situation and prepare a response.
