Dear Ms. Underwood:
The Solid Waste Section (Section) has completed a review of the Proposed Alternate Source
Demonstration Report dated October 27, 2016 (DIN 26927) and submitted on behalf of the City of
Albemarle by Shield Engineering, Inc. for the City of Albemarle Subtitle D MSW Landfill, Solid Waste
Permit Number 8401. The letter was submitted in response to correspondence from the Section dated
August 8, 2016 (DIN 26556) requiring the City of Albemarle to address inorganic constituent

In response to the inorganic groundwater exceedances at the landfill and in accordance with 15A NCAC

addition, the City of Albemarle is requesting an extension to submit the ASD by November 23, 2016.
As a result, the extension request is approved as described. If you have any questions or concerns
regarding this letter, please feel free to contact me by email at ervin.lane@ncdenr.gov or by
