ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
On September 27, 2016 Liz Patterson and Joe Cherry conducted a partial inspection of Faircloth’s Grading Landfill
located at T. Tarpey Lane in Sanford, North Carolina.
1. The facility is a notified land clearing and inert debris (LCID) landfill. The disposal area for notified LCID landfills
shall remain under two acres.
2. The facility is properly secured with a locked gate.
3. Access road and facility are overgrown with waist high vegetation. It appears facility has not been actively
used for quite some time. Facility needs to be mowed for proper closure inspection. Please contact, Liz
Patterson, Environmental Senior Specialist at 919-707-8286(Office), 919-805-6499(Cell), or
elizabeth.patterson@ncdenr.gov to schedule the inspection within 30 days of receipt of this inspection report.
4. Permanent waste boundary markers need to be installed within 30 days and maintained around the entire
landfill. Waste marker frequency should be placed so that you can see from one to the other.
5. A buffer of 100’ from the disposal area to property lines, residential dwellings, commercial or public
buildings and wells must be maintained. Property lines must be marked within 30 days to ensure that waste
was not being dumped into the 100’ buffer for this facility.

with the Statutes, Rules, and/or other regulatory requirements applicable to this facility. Be advised that pursuant to N.C.G.S. 130A-22, an
administrative penalty of up to $15,000 per day may be assessed for each violation of the Solid Waste Laws, Regulations, Conditions of a Permit,
or Order under Article 9 of Chapter 130A of the N.C. General Statutes. Further, the facility and/or all responsible parties may also be subject to
enforcement actions including penalties, injunction from operation of a solid waste management facility or a solid waste collection service and any
such further relief as may be necessary to achieve compliance with the North Carolina Solid Waste Management Act and Rules.
