Iredell County, Permit No. 4903-MSWLF-1993, Document ID No. 26859

Mr. Lambert,

The Division of Waste Management, Solid Waste Section (Section) has received your request to
add alternative daily cover materials (DIN 26858) at the above referenced facility. The request
was received in the Asheville Regional Office on October 13, 2016.

Based on my review of the guidance document titled Approved Alternative Daily Cover Materials
For Use At Sanitary Landfills (document ID number 20365), both synthetic tarps and foundry sand
are acceptable. As a result, the use of Enviro Cover and foundry sand are approved for use as
alternative daily cover materials at your facility in accordance with your submittal. Additionally,
the use of foundry sand as a road/turn around base within the lined landfill footprint is also
approved. Per the referenced guidance document, please update your operation plan to include the
use of these alternative daily cover materials. The updated operation plan will be added to the List
of Documents for the Approved Plan in your Permit at the next permitting activity.
