Dear Mrs. Hardin:
The Solid Waste Section (Section) has reviewed the request to install additional groundwater monitoring
wells to better understand the groundwater conditions in bedrock for the ongoing Comprehensive Site
Assessment at the Duke Energy Carolinas Marshall Dry Ash Landfill submitted on June 20, 2016 (DIN
26303). The Section approves three (3) wells, AL‐2BRL, AL‐3BR, and AL‐4BR to be installed in the Phase II
area of the landfill and one (1) well, AL‐1BR to be installed in the Phase I area.
