Explanation for question 8: The pump truck block was checked, however the leachate is treated on site via (National Pollutant Discharge
Elimination System) NPDES permit and biological treatment. Leachate is pumped and hauled to the local POTW during emergencies.
Question 10: The tonnage for the SW tax is less than the tonnage disposed of in the landfill (question 9) because sludge is tracked as being
placed in the landfill, however exempt from the solid waste tax.

There is a Recycling Drop Off Center at the Landfill where you can recycle paper, cardboard, glass, plastic, and aluminum cans.
Disposal Facilities Rules
It shall be unlawful to place waste in any place other than the designated area. Any attempts will be reported to the NC Department of Environmental and Natural Resources.
Landfill users must unload only in the area designated by the Landfill Manager. The hauler
and/or waste generator will be responsible for removal and clean-up of all wastes unloaded
in an undesignated area.
