Dear Mr. Hart:
The Free Product Recovery and Groundwater Monitoring report received on October 8, 2024 has been
reviewed by the UST Section, Division of Waste Management, Mooresville Regional Office. The report
recommending continued free product recovery has been approved.
The report states:
• Between November 17, 2023, and August 12, 2024, free product was observed in monitoring well
MW-2 at thicknesses ranging from 2.40 feet to 0.01 feet.
• Current data indicates that the predominant groundwater flow at the site is in a northeast and east
direction.
• Laboratory analytical results indicated VOCs and SVOCs detected in the samples collected from
monitoring wells MW-1, MW-3, MW-9, and EW-1 at concentrations greater than their respective
2L Standards. However, no targeted constituents were detected at concentrations exceeding
respective GCLs.
• Free product removal activities using absorbent socks from November 17, 2023 until March 16,
2024. Free product thicknesses were measured to document the effectiveness of the absorbent
socks. A total of approximately 0.53 gallons of free product was recovered via product adsorbent
socks during this reporting period. A total of approximately 0.53 gallons of free product was
recovered via product adsorbent socks during this reporting period.

Incident Number 7570
November 1, 2024
• The November 2023 and July 2024 AFVR events removed a total of 350 gallons of fluids,
including free product, and approximately 6 gallons of vaporous hydrocarbons. Following the
AFVR events, free product thickness measurements in monitoring well MW-2 decreased from
2.40 feet on November 17, 2023, to 0.01 feet on August 12, 2024, suggesting the free product
removal efforts were effective in the area in the immediate vicinity of MW-2.
Per this Notice of Regulatory Requirements:
Continue free product recovery.
Continue semi-annual groundwater sampling/monitoring.
The next monitoring/free product recovery report is due no later than May 31, 2025.
