James,
I thought I responded to your email after reviewing your sampling report.
Because of no GCL detection in the your latest sampling results for MW-01A and an
existing NRP recorded June 15, 2015 for incident #8863, no additional work is needed
unless new release is reported.
Thank you.

Gene,
Had you ever made a decision regarding this site? The re-sample event was performed so that you could
decide if a new incident should be started or if the site would close under the existing NRP for the property.
Please let me know the outcome so I can decide what to do about the site monitor well. Thanks.

Hi Gene,
Please see attached the results of a groundwater resample event at the above referenced facility,. The sample
was collected based upon electronic correspondence from the Guilford County DHHS. Let me know if you have
any questions. Thanks.

Church Street Family Fare BP #172: M.M. Fowler, Inc. (Facility ID No. 00-0-0000009710) 2750 North Church Street, Greensboro, Guilford County, NC 27405 Former UST Incident Number(s): #8863 (Speedway #8165)
Dear Mr. Mao:
Please find enclosed the results for the re-sampling of a groundwater monitoring well, MW-1A, installed during site check activities at the above referenced site. The well was re-sampled based upon electronic communication from the Guilford County Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) on July 30, 2024, requesting that the previously detected target compounds and reported concentrations be verified.
ESNC Environmental Consulting, P.C. (ESNC) mobilized to the site on August 8, 2024, to resample MW-1A. MW-1A’s groundwater was measured for depth-to-water (DTW) and for the presence of PSH using a
SolinstTM oil/water IFP accurate to 0.01 feet. DTW in MW-1A was measured at 27.67 below top of casing (BTOC). PSH was not monitored to be present.
Following the monitoring, MW-1A was purged of three to five well volumes with disposable polyethylene
bailers and nylon string. The well was then allowed to recharge within 95% of its pre-development depth to water prior to sampling. One groundwater sample was collected from the well and was analyzed by EPA Method 6200B for Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs).
The laboratory analytical results for the August 8, 2024, re-sample event for MW-1A is tabulated on the attached Table 6 and the complete laboratory analytical report with supporting COC documentation are included with this correspondence.
Groundwater analysis by EPA Method 6200B confirmed the presence of the previously identified target compounds in the groundwater. The reported concentrations were like those previously reported. For the August 6, 2024, sample event the concentrations of Benzene, 1,2,4-Trimethylbenzene, 1,3,5- Trimethylbenzene, n–Propylbenzene and Naphthalene were reported above the corresponding NCAC 2L Groundwater Quality Standards (GWQSs). No detected compound was reported more than the Gross Contamination Levels (GCLs).

exceptions,if applicable.
Matrix QC may not be reported if insufficient sample is provided or site-specific QC samples were not submitted. In these
situations,to demonstrate precision and accuracy at a batch level,a LCS/LCSD may be performed, unless otherwise
specified in the method.Surrogate and/or isotope dilution analyte recoveries (if applicable)which are outside of the QC window are confirmed
unless attributed to a dilution or otherwise noted in the narrative.
Receipt
The sample was received on 8/8/2024 12:55 PM.Unless otherwise noted below, the sample arrived in good condition, and, where
required, properly preserved and on ice.The temperature of the cooler at receipt time was 4.8°C.

James,
I suggest taking a GW sample from MW-1A in mid-August to see the
contamination levels. If they are low, I will not make a new release
incident.
Let me know if you have any question.
Thank you.

James Dodson;
I have reviewed the groundwater sampling results from MW-1A for Family
Fare #172. Additionally, I examined the groundwater monitoring well (MW)
network, flow direction, and sampling results for the last sampling event in
December 2014 before incident closure for Speedway #8165.
Here are the key findings:
MW-1, located downgradient from the underground storage tank
(UST) basin at the Speedway facility, exhibited high benzene
concentration.
Groundwater flowed westerly in December 2014.
Benzene levels were less than 100 ppb in MW-2 and below 2L in
all other upgradient and cross-gradient wells.
MW-1A, situated immediately downgradient from former MW-2,
detected benzene at 1200 ppb in May 2024, indicating a new
release at the site.
Although benzene concentration decreased significantly in July 2024,
additional sampling events are necessary before no further action can be
considered.
Thank you.

Hi James and Gene, Please find attached a copy of the above referenced revised report. The report has been revisedsince the original site check activities were inadvertently performed for the westernmost regularunleaded gasoline spill bucket instead of the westernmost regular unleaded gasoline UST STPsump.
