Farrington & Co. 1701 Lomond Street, Winston-Salem, Forsyth County, NC 3921 Sunset Ridge Road, Suite 301, Raleigh, NC 27607 Hart & Hickman, P.C. May 2024 DC340046 Table 1: Site Chronology DSCA ID No.: DC340046 Chronology of Events October 2023 Geo-Hydro Engineers, Inc. (Geo-Hydro) completed Report of Phase I Environmental Site Assessment (Phase I ESA) for the source property. The Phase I ESA identified the following recognized environmental conditions: (1) former printing operations on the source property from 1987 to 1995 (Salem Printing Co Inc. and Bell's Printing Service); (2) former petroleum underground storage tanks (USTs) on the north adjacent property (Star Services at 400 Waughtown St); (3) two off-source property dry-cleaner listings to the northeast and northwest (State Dry Cleaners at 332 Waughtown St and Farrington N S Co/Klean-Rite Cleaners at 423 Waughtown St); and (4) a machine and paint shop on the northeast adjacent property (Waughtown Machine and Paint Shop/Southern Raines Customs Welding & Metal Fabrication at 412 Waughtown St). As discussed below, Geo-Hydro later identified the N.S. Farrington & Co dry-cleaning solvent distribution facility on the source property as an REC. November to December 2023 Geo-Hydro completed a Report of Limited Phase II Environmental Site Investigation Report. The report documented additional historical research that identified the N.S. Farrington & Co dry-cleaning solvent distribution facility on the source property as an REC. The assessment included collection of two groundwater samples from temporary monitoring wells (TMW-1 and TMW-2), collection of soil samples from the temporary monitoring well borings (SB-1 and SB-2), and collection of two sub-slab gas samples (SG-1) inside the former distribution center building. January 2024 The N.S. Farrington & Co. site (DC340046) was certified into the DSCA Program. February to April 2024 Hart & Hickman, PC (H&H) performed initial site assessment activities. Soil samples were collected from 10 soil borings (SB-3 through SB-12). Six permanent 2-inch Type II monitoring wells (MW-1 through MW-6) were installed and sampled. Four co-located sub-slab gas (SS-1 through SS-4) and indoor air (IA-1 through IA-4) samples were collected in the former distribution center building. H&H also completed a public outreach/water supply well survey form mailing. Instructions: Brief description of all significant events that have occurred since a problem was suspected at the facility. Commence with the first date a problem was suspected and continue through the most recent activity described in the current report.
