LaBella Associates (LaBella) is submitting the attached methane monitoring results for Kirksey Drive
Landfill, Permit Number 12-01. The 2024 Third quarter landfill gas monitoring event was performed
on August 6, 2024. During this event, LaBella monitored gas probes GP-1, GP-2, GP-3, GP-4, GP-5,
and GP-6, as well as the animal shelter, SPCA (Friends for Animals), and National Guard Building.
The approximate locations of the monitoring locations are depicted in Drawing 1. The monitoring
data for the gas probes and buildings are summarized in the attached Landfill Gas Monitoring Data
Log.
Methane was detected above the lower explosive limit (LEL) in gas probes, GP-3 (40.4%), GP-4
(31.6%), and GP-6 (55.6%). Methane was not detected in any other gas probes or structures.
Methane detections and LEL exceedances are summarized in the attached Tabie 1 and Tabie 2,
respectively. The exceedances in GP-3, GP-4, and GP-6 are consistent with previous results.
We have included a NCDEQ Environmental Monitoring Report Form (EMRF) and will forward a copy of
this report to NCDEQ Solid Waste Section. A copy of this report should be maintained in the facility's
records. The next quarterly monitoring event is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2024. If we can
