The item(s) listed above were observed by Section staff and require action on behalf of the facility in order to come into or maintain compliance
with the Statutes, Rules, and/or other regulatory requirements applicable to this facility. Be advised that pursuant to N.C.G.S. 130A-22, an
administrative penalty of up to $15,000 per day may be assessed for each violation of the Solid Waste Laws, Regulations, Conditions of a Permit,
or Order under Article 9 of Chapter 130A of the N.C. General Statutes. Further, the facility and/or all responsible parties may also be subject to
enforcement actions including penalties, injunction from operation of a solid waste management facility or a solid waste collection service and any
such further relief as may be necessary to achieve compliance with the North Carolina Solid Waste Management Act and Rules.
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
1. The facility consists of a transfer facility, convenience area for recyclables, tires, cardboard, metal, construction and
demolition debris, brush, rigid plastic, white goods, batteries, antifreeze, used oil and electronics.
2. The required signage is posted at the entrance of the facility.
3. The facility is secured by an automatic gate at the entrance of the facility.
4. The facility is permitted to receive solid waste generated from within Iredell County.
5. All waste is taken to the Iredell County MSWLF (Permit # 49-03).
6. No unacceptable waste streams were observed.
7. The tipping floor was resurfaced May 3-5, 2024.
8. The tipping floor slopes towards the lower trailer loading bay. The floors and walls of the transfer station are
washed daily. The wastewater is collected by drains in the lower trailer loading bay.
9. Facility staff pressure washed the tipping floor, push walls and trailer loading bay on July 16, 2024.
10. No waste was observed in the drain at the end of the truck turn around area.
11. The drains from the trailer loading bay flow into an oil -water separator. The grit chamber and oil water separator
were last pumped January 16, 2024, by Universal Environmental Services, LLC.
14. Leachate is discharged into the Town of Mooresville Sanitary Sewer system.
15. Eight fire extinguishers are available throughout the facility and located in heavy equipment for fire suppression.
16. White goods were staged on a concrete loading dock. CFC's are removed by facility staff and then loaded into a
container. All metal is taken to Gordon's Metal in Statesville.
17. Observed electronics palletized and staged for Powerhouse in Salisbury to pick-up.
Records Review
18. A copy of the current permit and operations plan are maintained in the scale house.
19. The average daily tonnage from July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024, was 182 tons per day, received 64,634.90 tons and
transferred 64,653.21 tons.
20. Reviewed waste screening records from September 18, 2023, to July 16, 2024. Any unacceptable waste observed
was noted on the waste screening forms along with actions taken for proper disposal. The facility is in accordance
with the 15A NCAC 13B .0405(8)(A) in meeting the requirement for screening incoming loads weekly.
