The item(s) listed above were observed by Section staff and require action on behalf of the facility in order to come into or maintain compliance
with the Statutes, Rules, and/or other regulatory requirements applicable to this facility. Be advised that pursuant to N.C.G.S. 130A-22, an
administrative penalty of up to $15,000 per day may be assessed for each violation of the Solid Waste Laws, Regulations, Conditions of a Permit,
or Order under Article 9 of Chapter 130A of the N.C. General Statutes. Further, the facility and/or all responsible parties may also be subject to
enforcement actions including penalties, injunction from operation of a solid waste management facility or a solid waste collection service and any
such further relief as may be necessary to achieve compliance with the North Carolina Solid Waste Management Act and Rules.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
1. The facility is permitted to take land clearing waste, yard trash, untreated and unpainted wood.
2. The Permit to Operate is currently under review. A Technical Review letter was sent by Allen Gaither, Permit
Engineer, to the County on August 22, 2022, outlining what additional information was needed complete the
permit review process. As of July 22, 2024, the Section has not received the updated information. Contact
Allen Gaither with the updated information needed to complete the permit renewal process. Mr. Gaither
can be reached at 828-296-4700 or by email at allen.gaither(n(,deg.nc.gov.
3. The facility is secured by a metal gate and was locked upon arrival.
4. Signage is posted at the entrance to the facility showing the name, permit number, emergency contact
information and the types of material that are accepted.
5. Access roads were of all-weather construction and were being maintained at the time of inspection.
6. The fill slopes did not exceed three to one (3:1) and no unapproved waste was observed on the working face at the
time of inspection.
7. Kudzu is encroaching on the south side of the landfill. Remove the kudzu from the landfill footprint to
ensure that the entire landfill can be inspected.
8. The working face was small, compacted with a loader and no unapproved waste was observed at the time of
inspection. The facility is applying monthly soil cover as required by 15A NCAC 13B .0566(3).
