Dear Mr. Turlington,
The NC Division of Waste Management received your notice of cease operation to close the
Septage Detention & Treatment Facility (permit #SDTF 57-04) located on Old Murphy Road in Macon
County. The effective cease operation date was November 30, 2022 and a final inspection was
performed.
As of this date, permit #SDTF 57-04 has been closed out. If in the future you wish to obtain a
permit for a septage facility or land application site, please contact this office to initiate the
permitting process. Use of a septage facility or land application site that is not permitted may result
in administrative penalties up to $15,000 per violation in accordance with NC General Statute 130A-
22.

A certified installer is to install a commercial effluent filter in the existing 1500 gallon septic tank.
Each RV must be plumbed according to the NC plumbing code into the septic tank inlets and tied together as needed.
No high strength RV cleaners, odor preventers or winterizing chemicals allowed in the system.
The system lines must be installed on contour using setbacks as shown.
Contact Health Department for final inspection one to two days prior notice required.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
1) The system has been converted into a traditional septic system. Permitting with the County is complete.
2) 15A NCAC 13B .0838(b): The access road is well maintained.
3) 15A NCAC 13B .0838(c): The tank appears to be well maintained and no leaks were noted.
4) 15A NCAC 13B .0838(e)(2) & 15A NCAC 13B .0838(g): No vector or odor issues were noted at the time of
inspection.
5) 15A NCAC 13B .0838(i): No vegetation was noted surrounding the tank.
6) 15A NCAC 13B .0838(k): Proper signage was noted at the time of inspection.
7) 15A NCAC 13B .0838(m): Setback requirements appear to have been met.
