STATUS OF PERMIT:
AUDIT PARTICIPANTS: Ben Barnes, Division of Waste Management Larry Garris,
Halifax Co. Solid Waste
PURPOSE OF INSPECTION: To perform a comprehensive audit of Construction and Demolition Landfill
VIOLATIONS NOTED (citation and esulanation):
1) Area along the western slope of the landfill should be utilized for waste disposal until contours meet plan
specifications and then area stabilized with grass.
2) Adequate soil needs to be provided to cover any uncovered waste material
3) Waterway at the base of this slope needs to be cleaned and re -graded to ensure proper drainage.
4) Mulch from the yard waste area needs to be applied to any unvegetated areas on the facility to retard
erosion. Including final contours of the C&DLF that need to be stabilized, side slopes of the borrow area,
unvegetated areas of the closed MSWLF,
5) Yard waste site has some incidental waste.
6) Records are well maintained. Facility map has all ancillary operations indicated.
7) There are plans to be move the yard waste, scrap tire, and white goods sites within 10 months to an area
that will have more room.
