On behalf Products (SE) Pipe Line Corporation (PPL), AECOM Technical Services of North Carolina,
Inc. (AECOM) respectfully submits the attached monitoring well abandonment documentation
associated with the above referenced Site.
AECOM self-performed monitoring well abandonment activities, under the supervision of an in-house
North Carolina licensed drilling contractor. PPL has elected to retain monitoring wells MW-7, MW-8,
MW-15 and MW-18 due to this being an active facility. Should there be any issues, the wells will be
beneficial for monitoring impacts, all other monitoring wells were abandoned by AECOM at the
Salisbury Pump Station Site.
Monitoring well construction details are presented in Table 1 and a site map is provided as Figure 1.
Select monitoring wells were abandoned using a cement slurry introduced from the bottom of the well
to the ground surface using a tremie pipe. Deeper monitoring wells (MW-14I, MW-18D, and MW-19)
were abandoned using bentonite pellets. The concrete pad and protective well covers were removed
from the ground and the Site was restored to the previous condition. The well abandonment activities
were performed in accordance with 15A NCAC 02C .0113 and the Notice of No Further Action Letter
received on May 1, 2023. Well abandonment records (Form GW-30) can be found as an attachment.
