Dear Mr. McDonald:
The Monitoring Report dated May 17, 2023, has been reviewed and this office agrees with your consultant’s
recommendation to conduct another MMPE event to evaluate the effectiveness of aggressive fluid/vapor
recovery after construction of recovery well RW-1. This information should be used in making decisions
towards remedial action as continued use of aggressive fluid/vapor recovery beyond evaluation for pilot
test data will require that technology to be approved in a Corrective Action Plan (CAP). Gauging and/or
sampling of MW-7, MW-16 and RW-1 should occur approximately 30 days after the MMPE event, and the
data should be reported in a Monitoring Report.
If you have questions regarding the information contained in this letter, please contact me at the Fayetteville
Regional Office address below or at (910) 433-3347.
Sincerely,
Kenneth E. Currie
