Chuck, please see the attached photos showing that our piles are within the measurements
listed in our permit. Please let me know if you need anything else.

That’s fine. Please just double check that the windrows meet the specified dimensions. If you
would just email me or text me a photo of the feedstock windrows.

Hi, Chuck,
Our pile that caught on fire was within the limitations set in our permit, and there was a fire lane
that allowed the fire departments to access the fire from both directions. I am unsure of how
you want us to proceed given that we were in compliance.
Thanks,
Misti

Subject: Fire Hazard
Misti,
I received your Fire Occurrence Report and it is in the process of being logged into Laserfiche.
On my last two inspection reports I noted that one of the requirements of your permit is that
stockpiling of high carbon ratio feedstocks and finished product shall be limited to 50’ in width
x 30’ in height. A 25’ access road should be kept around all sides of the windrows for fire
access.
This is because not stockpiling in windrows with fire access poses a significant fire hazard and
large piles can be hazardous for fire fighters as well.
As a requirement of this Fire Occurrence Report please follow up within 45 days
demonstrating that the facility is in compliance with Permit Number 1906-COMPOST-2020,
Attachment III, Permit Condition Number 9 which states: “Storage of outdoor pre-processed
debris and mulch must be limited to piles of maximum 30 feet in height, 50 feet in width, with
unlimited length, within the approved facility boundaries, unless otherwise approved by the
Section. Compost operations, including mixing, composting, and curing, must be limited to the
approved operation facility boundaries.”
Let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you,
Chuck Kirchner
