Gilead Cotton Oil Co. Brownfields Property 299 Industry Ave. Mt. Gilead, Montgomery County, North Carolina Brownfields Project No. 25054-21-062 Dear Mr. James: The North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) Brownfields Redevelopment Section (BRS) has received and reviewed the Vapor Intrusion Mitigation System Post -Occupancy Monitoring Report dated March 19, 2024 (Report) submitted on your behalf by Hanley Environmental Engineering & Consulting, PLLC for the above referenced Brownfields Property. The Report summarized sub -slab soil gas assessment activities performed as required by the response letter from DEQ dated February 8, 2024, that was issued in response to the VIMS Post -Occupancy Monitoring Report dated May 22, 2023. Review of the data presented in the report suggests that the concentrations of contaminants detected beneath the slab are consistent with data from 2022 indicating. In addition, results of the risk calculations do not exceed acceptable risk thresholds. The Report concludes with the request to cease sampling, given the stabilization of the contaminant concentrations observed and the results of the cumulative risk evaluation. DEQ BRS concurs with the recommendations as proposed in the Report and the post -occupancy monitoring conditions of the Vapor Intrusion Mitigation System Design Report — Revision 2 dated June 29, 2022 have been met. No additional post -occupancy sampling will be required at this time.
