Re: 1,4-Dioxane Sampling Subset
Pamlico County Landfll
Permit# 6902-MSWLF-1982
FID 1831015
Dear Mr. Forbes,
The Division of Waste Management, Solid Waste Section (Section) has reviewed the Request for 1,4-
Dioxane Sampling Subset (FID 1831000) submitted by Labella Associates, P.C. (Labella) on behalf of
Pamlico County.
Pamlico County initiated 1,4-Dioxane analysis in November 2018 and during the 11 subsequent
monitoring events, 1,4-Dioxane was not detected in monitoring wells MW-3, MW-4, MW-6, MW-7, and
in the downstream surface water monitoring location. As a result, Labella requested to discontinue 1,4-
Dioxane analysis at those locations. Labella intends to continue analyzing samples from MW-1, MW-2,
MW-5, NES-1, and the upstream sampling location for 1,4-dioxane.
Based on the results of the previous 12 monitoring events, Labella’s 1,4-Dioxane monitoring reduction
request is approved. Please contact me at (919) 707-8288 or by e-mail at ervin.lane@ncdenr.gov if you
have any questions or concerns regarding this letter. Thank you in advance for your cooperation in this
matter.
Sincerely,
Ervin Lane
