Be advised that pursuant to N.C.G.S. 130A-22, an administrative penalty of up to $15,000 per day may be assessed for each violation of the Solid Waste Laws, Regulations, Conditions of a Permit, or Order under Article 9 of Chapter 130A of the N.C. General Statutes. Further, the facility and/or all responsible parties may also be subject to enforcement actions including penalties, injunction from operation of a solid waste management facility or a solid waste collection service and any such further relief as may be necessary to achieve compliance with the North Carolina Solid Waste Management Act and Rules. Page 1 of 2 FACILITY COMPLIANCE INSPECTION REPORT Division of Waste Management Solid Waste Section ADDITIONAL COMMENTS 1. Proper signage was observed at the entrance to the facility. 2. The facility is permitted to receive solid waste generated within Iredell County. 3. The facility was currently working in Phase 6. 4. The landfill was actively receiving waste during the inspection. Tires had been separated out of the working face to be properly disposed at the tire collection area. 5. Edge of liner markers were observed. 6. All access roads were in good condition. 7. Windblown waste was being collected during the inspection. 8. The working face was small and compact. 9. No unacceptable waste streams were observed in the MSWLF. Operations inspection of the White Goods Collection Area: 10. This area was well managed at the time of inspection. 11. White goods containing Freon are separated from other metals and stored in an upright manner. 12. Facility staff extract the Freon from all white goods. Operations inspection of the Electronic and Paint Collection Area: 13. This area was well managed at the time of the inspection. 14. Electronics were palletized and staged for Powerhouse Recycling in Salisbury to pick-up. 15. Latex paint collected in five (5) gallon containers is mixed with the Posi-Shell. Operations inspection of the Tire Collection Area: 16. This area was well managed at the time of the inspection. 17. Tires are stored on the ground. When enough tires have accumulated for a load landfill staff contact New River to deliver a trailer. Operations inspection of Mulching and Grinding/Yard Waste/Type 1 Small Composting Area: 18. This area was well managed at the time of the inspection. 19. Land clearing waste and pallets are kept separated from the yard waste that is required to be composted. 20. Painted pallets are removed to be used in the electronic collection area. Operations inspection of the Asphalt Shingle Recycling 21. The asphalt shingle recycling area was well managed at the time of the inspection. 22. Asphalt shingles are collected by MJR Group in Concord for recycling.
