(GRI) presents the results of the ground water sampling event at the Food Plus 1 site in Bladenboro, North Carolina. The activities were conducted in response to NCDEQ correspondence dated May 30, 2023. On July 20, 2023, monitoring well MW-1 was gauged, purged, and sampled per NCDEQ guidelines. The depth to ground water was 1.23 feet below the top of well casing. Ground water samples were submitted for analyses of VOCs and oxygenates by EPA Method 6200B. A Site Location Map and Site Map have been included as Figures 1 and 2, respectively. Please see the attached summary tables for the results of the July 2023 gauging and ground water sampling data. Concentrations of benzene, ethylbenzene, xylenes, MTBE, naphthalene, tert-Amyl alcohol, tert-Butyl alcohol, di-isopropyl ether, n-propylbenzene, and 1,2,4-tribmethylbenzene that exceeded the Maximum Allowable Concentrations (MACs) as specified in T15A NCAC 2L.0202 were reported in the ground water samples collected from MW-1. No reported contaminant concentrations exceeded the Gross Contaminant Levels (GCLs). A copy of the laboratory report is attached. In April 2022, an updated receptor survey was conducted. No water supply wells were identified within 1,500 feet of the site. Public water is available to the subject site and to all surrounding properties. No surface water bodies were identified within 500 feet of the site. The above referenced project has been analyzed per your instructions. The analyses were performed in accordance with the applicable analytical method. The analytical data has been validated using standard quality control measures performed as required by the analytical method. Quality Assurance, method validations, instrumentation maintenance and calibration for all parameters were performed in accordance with guidelines established by the USEPA (including 40 CFR 136 Method Update Rule May 2021) unless otherwise indicated. Certain parameters (chlorine, pH, dissolved oxygen, sulfite...) are required to be analyzed within 15 minutes of sampling. Usually, but not always, any field parameter analyzed at the laboratory is outside of this holding time. Refer to sample analysis time for confirmation of holding time compliance. The results are shown on the attached Report of Analysis(s). Results for solid matrices are reported on an as- received basis unless otherwise indicated. This report shall not be reproduced except in full and relates only to the samples included in this report.
