Dear Jill Smith:
The Underground Storage Tank (UST) Section, Division of Waste Management (DWM), is in receipt of
the report dated October 27, 2023, on your behalf by Geological Resources, Inc. (GRI). The report has been
reviewed and will be maintained in the Fayetteville Regional Office. The UST Section generally agrees
with the conclusion and recommendations presented in the report.
Due to the ongoing free product at the site, continued free product recovery efforts are necessary for site
remediation. Another comprehensive monitoring report is also necessary including sampling RBP-42 and
RBP-17, from nearby incident #6601. The monitoring report should encompass all free product recovery
efforts to date. Please sample all wells per EPA Method 6200B including oxygenates. Please submit the
report no later May 1, 2024.
If you have any questions regarding trust fund eligibility or reimbursement from the Commercial
Leaking Petroleum Underground Storage Tank Cleanup Fund, please contact the UST Section
Trust Fund Branch at (919) 707-8171. If you have questions regarding the information contained in this
letter, please contact me at corey.futral@deq.nc.gov or at (910) 796-7263.
Sincerely,
Corey D. Futral
