Box 396 Aberdeen, NC 28315 Re: Aggressive Fluid-Vapor Recovery Report Review Shields Exxon 100 North Sandhills Road Aberdeen, Moore County Incident Number: 2509 Risk Classification: Intermediate Ranking: I 170 D Dear Frank McNeill Jr.: The Underground Storage Tank (UST) Section, Division of Waste Management (DWM), is in receipt of three (3) reports dated December 6, 2023, submitted on your behalf by Geological Resources, Inc (GRI). The report has been reviewed and will be maintained in the Fayetteville Regional Office. The UST thanks you for these reports The UST section agrees with the recommendations provided in the report. Post AFVR groundwater sampling is required at the site approximately 30 days after the AFVR events. Because free-product remains at the site, free-product recovery efforts and the installation of absorbent booms with any maintenance in wells that exhibit free-product is necessary in the mid-term. After the groundwater monitoring and sampling event further discussions will be made in the anticipation of a Corrective Action Plan (CAP) and feasibility study. If State Trust Fund reimbursement is anticipated, please submit a completed pre-approval form to the Division before any work has been completed. If you have any questions regarding trust fund eligibility or reimbursement, please contact the UST Section Trust Fund Branch at (919) 733-8486. If you have any questions regarding this letter, please contact me at corey.futral@deq.nc.gov or (910) 796-7263. Sincerely, Corey D.
