Dear Mayor Duke:
On December 21, 2023, Ms. Amanda Thompson, representing the State of North Carolina, Division of Waste
Management Solid Waste Section (Section) inspected the above referenced facility. At the time of the inspection,
Section staff observed unacceptable wastes within the waste stream and charred waste beneath the
unprocessed yard waste. The Section staff also observed additional metal recyclables had been added to the
metal recyclable area and that no recyclables had been removed prior to the end of the year. A Notice of Violation
was sent via certified mail on January 3, 2024. A technical assistance meeting and follow-up inspection was
conducted on January 17, 2023. The Section observed that the unacceptable wastes, charred waste, and metal
recyclables had been removed from the facility.
This letter serves to confirm that the requirements of the Notice of Violation dated January 3, 2024, have been
satisfied and the violation(s) have been corrected. Thank you for your cooperation in this matter. If you have any
