Kevin and Matt,
Received and reviewed the information. In an effort to get the current conditions under control and
potentially reduce levels I’m willing to go forward with the AST approach. Depending on the results
we can hold high rez for the future if need be.

Remedial Design Characterization

Mark,
We received the following from AST regarding a remedial design characterization:
=====================================================================
Kevin,
See attached for potential RDC locations and scope below. Is WSW-3 impacted? Do you have well
construction information for this well? Give me a call to discuss.
• 12 dual tube borings to 30’ bgs
• Screen point sample at 6 of the DT locations
o 15’-19’, 20’-24’, 25’-29’
• Slug tests at MW-4, MW-7, MW-13, and MW-18
• Sample all impacted monitoring wells
Estimated 3 days on site with geoprobe, one additional day for slug test and monitoring well
sampling. Lump sum of $20,100.
====================================================================
I’ve replied to Nathan that we have slug test data for MW-4, MW-7 and MW-19 (I sent him the
results and our writeup on K-values) and gave him well construction specifics for WSW-3. Also asked
what he needs in terms of groundwater sampling (we just sampled all wells in December).
Eliminating the slug tests we should be able to pare down his $20K number.
Attached is a map showing his proposed RDC locations.
Please let us know if you feel this might be a suitable alternative to the high-rez work.
Thank you as always,
Kevin Buchanan

Mark,
For Pearce’s Grocery I’m having AST Environmental work up numbers to do their remedial design
characterization at the site, so we can have something to compare against Eagle’s high resolution
characterization (their proposal was ~$46K).
I’d like to have something to compare the Eagle number to, since we haven’t done MIP/HPT work on
this scale at any of these sites. Also, if we find that the AST RDC is a better option, we can go into
remediation pretty quick without having to figure out persulfate additives, etc. We’ve seen pretty
good success out of the BOS materials we’ve used at a few sites, and it appears as a good
amendment for creating barriers to migration.
We’ll let you know what AST comes up with so we can get moving on the site.
Thank you,
Kevin Buchanan
