Ms. Smith,
It is my understanding (from Mark Petermann at NC DEQ’s Underground Storage Tank Section and
Chris Hanley of ATC Associates) that the house at 7615 Louisburg Rd currently relies on a private well
and that well has collapsed, making the well unusable. In addition, the well is at risk of
contamination from a UST leak on the adjacent property.
Raleigh Water appears to be available at this location. Connection to Raleigh Water would provide
the residents at this address a safe and reliable water supply that is not currently available from the
existing well. I hope that Raleigh Public Utilities would see to allowing connection of this residence to
Raleigh Water.
Following connection to Raleigh Water, the existing well should be permanently abandoned by a
certified well contractor, with a permit and inspection from Wake County.
Please let me know if you need additional information from Wake County in order to allow this
connection.
