WithersRavenel, Inc. (WR) has completed this Letter Report to document the sampling of supply 
well WSW‐1 described in our proposal number TA‐01 for the above referenced site approved by 
the Federal & State Lead Program on October 18, 2023 under NCDEQ Contract #N70522‐C.  
WithersRavenel mobilized to the subject site on October 19, 2023 for the purposes of evaluating 
the on‐site supply well in preparation for potential abandonment.  

Supply Well Evaluation – WSW‐1  

WR Personnel identified supply well WSW‐1 on the property and found the well to be out of 
use.  The well casing was covered by an inverted 5‐gallon bucket.  The well is surrounded by an 
approximate 2‐ft high concrete wall (formerly a well house) with no roof attached.  A 36‐in 
diameter concrete collar was found to lie next to the well itself within the former well house.  
The well pump, associated plumbing and electrical connection(s) were found to have been 
removed from the well.   

In addition to WSW‐1, an additional (4‐inch diameter) well was found to lie next to WSW‐1.  
This additional well appears to have been abandoned, as bentonite was present near the top of 
casing.  The well piping and electrical connection were present and surrounded by bentonite, 
though these connections had been severed.

WR Gauged WSW‐1 and recorded information from the well tag.  These results are summarized 
below: 

  Depth of casing and well depth from well tag affixed to upper part of casing.   
  Well casing is 6‐inch diameter steel.
