Harmony Grocery 1818 Mt. Harmony Road Rougemont, Person County, North Carolina NCDEQ Incident No. 3831 Dear Mr. Petermann: ATC Associates of North Carolina, P.C. (ATC) is pleased to submit the results of the August 2021 sampling activities from the groundwater influent and effluent of the PW-3R point of entry (POE) filtration system. PW-3R is located on the Mt. Harmony Grocery site property located at 1818 Mt. Harmony Road in Rougemont, Person County, North Carolina. A site topographic map is included as Figure 1 and a site map is included as Figure 2. A potential receptor survey map is included as Figure 3 and water supply well information is included as Table 1. The activities were performed based on an August 8, 2021 Task Authorization (TA-2) by the Trust Fund Branch of the Underground Storage Tank (UST) Section, Division of Waste Management, North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (NCDEQ). The work is being performed as part of the State Lead Contract #N122019A between NCDEQ and ATC. On August 23, 2021, ATC personnel mobilized to the site to collect groundwater influent and effluent samples from the PW-3R POE filtration system. ATC also intended to collect a water sample from an outside spigot from the residential building on the property. However, no outside spigot exists on the building. The samples were collected in laboratory-supplied, preserved containers; entered into chain of custody control; placed on ice; and shipped to North Carolina-accredited SGS North America Inc. in Scott, Louisiana and Dayton, New Jersey. The samples were analyzed by EPA Method 6200B for volatile organic compounds, Method SM4500S2 for hydrogen sulfide and Sulfide, Method SM2510 for specific conductivity, and Method SM4500H+ for pH. Field notes are included in Appendix A and the laboratory analytical report is included in Appendix B. The analytical results were compared to the 2L Standards and Gross Contamination Levels (GCLs). Laboratory analytical results indicated the following compound above 2L Standards:  1,2-Dichloroethane: PW-3R Influent [3.2 micrograms per liter (µg/L)] No other compounds were detected above 2L Standards. No compounds were detected above their respective GCLs. Detections above laboratory method detection limits (MDL) include toluene and diisopropyl ether (DIPE) in the PW-3R influent at concentrations of 0.31µg/L and 56.9 µg/L, respectively. No analytes were detected above their respective laboratory MDL in the PW-3R effluent. Hydrogen sulfide and sulfide were not detected above the laboratory MDLs in the PW-3R influent or effluent samples. Current and historical water supply well analytical data are shown in Table 2. As part of ATC’s quality assurance and quality control (QA and QC) measures, a data review of the laboratory report was conducted. During the review, it was found that the samples were received from the laboratory in acceptable condition and properly preserved. The samples were analyzed within correct holding times and reported within the laboratory report, and the chain of custody was properly completed by all parties. The laboratory QC report shows that an internal blank was analyzed for each method that was used for the original Mt.
