A water sample was collected from the supply well located at the referenced site on February 20, 2008. The water sample was collected in conjunction with assessment activities being conducted in the area of the
underground storage tanks formerly located at the former Parrish Grocery property. The sample was analyzed for volatile organic compounds by EPA Method 6210, and based on the laboratory analysis, tetrachloroethene was detected in the sample at a concentration of 0.90 micrograms per liter. Title 15A of
the North Carolina Administrative Code established a water quality standard of 0.7 micrograms per liter for tetrachloroethene; therefore the compound was detected at a concentration slightly exceeding the standard. A copy of the analytical report for the February 20, 2008 sampling event is attached. Please note that your
well is identified as WSW-3b on the attached report. According to information available to the UST Section, the well is used only for irrigation purposes and the home at the property is connected to a municipal water system. The well will be resampled within the next few weeks and the analytical data will be provided to
