HomeMy WebLinkAboutWS-2669_6146_CA_WSW_20100519_Supply well Sampling Results Smith May 19, 2010 Larry & Amanda Smith, Po Box 297 Glendale Springs, NC 28629 RE: Supply well Sampling Results Former Moore’s Exxon (Glendale General Store) 7398 Highway 16 South Glendale Springs, Ashe County, NC DWM Incident #6146 Dear Mr. and Ms. Smith: The North Carolina Division of Waste Management, Underground Storage Tank Section is conducting an environmental assessment at the referenced site. As part of the assessment, samples were collected from water supply wells in the area on April 13, 2010 for analysis of volatile organic compounds. According to the laboratory, the water sample collected from the supply well at your property contained isopropyl ether and methyl tertiary butyl ether at concentrations of 0.97 micrograms per liter (µg/l), and 1.6µg/l, respectively. A portion of the analytical report is attached. The North Carolina water quality standards for isopropyl ether and methyl tertiary butyl ether are 70 µg/l and 20 µg/l, respectively. The compounds were detected at concentrations below the North Carolina Standards.
