As part of the assessment, samples were collected from water supply wells in the area on July 25, 2012 for analysis of volatile organic compounds using EPA test method 6200B. According to the laboratory, the water sample collected from the supply well at your property contained acetone at a concentration of 9.7 micrograms per liter (µg/l). The North Carolina water quality standard for acetone is 6,000 µg/l. A Health Risk Evaluation was performed on the testing data, and according to the HRE, no restrictions on the use of the water are recommended at this time. A copy of the HRE is attached for your records. If you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact me at 919-707-8170.
