Dear Mr. Coslett:
In accordance with 40 CFR 264.101, as adopted in 15A NCAC 13A .0109, the Hazardous Waste Section
(HWS) requires that every facility institute corrective action to protect human health and the environment.
To ensure protection of human health and the environment, facilities need to conduct a receptor survey on
a regular basis to make sure potential receptor information is up to date. Receptor surveys should include
an inventory and map of all identifiable wells, springs, and surface water intakes used as sources of potable
water within 1,500 feet of the property boundary, or if warranted 1,500 feet from the known existing
contaminant plume.
The HWS is requesting that each facility provide a receptor survey update. The Solid Waste Section (SWS)
is also requiring that their facilities update receptor surveys, which applies to the former Riverdale Landfill
site. If your most recent survey was conducted prior to December 31, 2020, please provide an updated
survey report by March 31, 2024.
